Saving Documents in Microsoft Office 2007 / 2010
Office 2007 and 2010 files are saved in a different format to 2003. For example, Word 2007 and Word 2010 saves its documents as .docx files, whereas Word 2003 saves documents in plain .doc format.
However, if you are using Office 2007 or 2010 you should be aware that not everyone will be able to open your documents.
To avoid this problem, you need to save your documents in the older format (Office 97 - 2003). To do this, go to the Office menu (the colourful round button in the top left corner of your screen) and hover (but dont click) Save As, then choose Word 97-2003 document (in word), or Excel 97-2003 workbook (in Excel) etc. Once you have saved the file in this format, you will be able to open it on the school computers
